Maia is 3 months old

Our littlest girl is getting bigger.
She is up to 5.22 kg which for those of you who haven't switched to metric yet, that is 11 1/2 pounds.  She is smiling all the time and letting Sharon get some sleep at night too.
She is getting cuter all the time.  Its so fun to see her personality come out more and more.

oops

We got Maia's birth certificate from Slovenia 2 days ago. We were excited to get it so that we can start working on her american citizenship, social security, and passport.
When we opened it up I noticed that instead of saying Maia Joi Mormance, it read Maia Toi.
Ha.
I laughed, Sharon didn't think it was near as funny as I did since she made Maia's middle name very clear to the nurse in the hospital.

Oh and speaking of her name. Maja (j is a y here) is a common Slovene name. We chose a more international spelling for our girl. But her middle name isn't slovene at all. The nurse who came to check up on Maia tried to pronounce her middle name and said "oh, Maia (Yo-wee)" as she tried to say Joi (joy).

So we already have a few nicknames rollin around for our little girl.

stroll by the river

Today we went down to the park where the river splits here in Ljubljana. It was a crisp fall day and it was good to get out and walk around and see the leaves changing.
We did however get a lot of looks (especially from the older ladies), because they recommend you don't take the baby out for a while. It was medicine to our souls so the funny looks were a small and kind of fun price to pay.

I got some good lookin girls.

Cookie Monster

Now I know we don't have a TV and I haven't seen Eliana watching YouTube so I am assuming someone is smuggling in some sesame street videos because some blue dude with googlie eyes on TV taught my daughter how to say cookie.

cuter every day

Our little girl is 1 1/2 old now and it has been so fun to see her fun light hearted personality come out more and more. And she is stinkin cute.

Eliana is fascinated by the new washing machine that she can see into and watch the clothes go round and round.
She still loves bananas and has at least one almost everyday.

She enjoys smoothies when we make them too.

She also loves the Jacksons and the other missionaries on our team.

Maribor Baby

We got to go to the 2nd largest town in Slovenia the other day with our friends Brad and Laurel. We went to visit our other friends Andrej and Nina who are planting a church there.

There was a cool cafe where the ladies got to chat while I watched Eliana at the play ground they had.

Oh and here is a shot of Eliana apartment hunting with us. I don't think she was near as interested in finding the right place as we were.

It's all down hill from here

Here is Eliana running down her first grassy hill. Oh to be a kid again and find so much enjoyment in the simple things.

It's official

Well we always knew that Eliana is a 1/4 Australian but its been fully confirmed now. She is becoming a bit of a picky eater and getting quite selective about what she'll eat lately. But, even in this finicky season she loves Vegemite!! She tried it for the first time on her toast a couple days ago and couldn't get enough.
For those of you non Aussie's, Vegemite is a yeast extract that looks a little like a mix between chocolate and used motor oil and is often spread on toast. Most people in the world who don't live down under are not very fond of this delicacy, but our sweet girl is.

He she is with her Australian Grandma and Great Aunties.

Thanks Mimi and Papa

The last two weeks I (Eliana) got to live with my Mimi and Papa. My mom and dad needed a place to stay before they started the move to Slovenia. I loved my time with them. I got to do so many things. Like...

Watering the flowers,

Story time,

Swimming,

Chatting with Mimi,

Walking in the driveway (I love rocks),

Taking a break with Papa,

Riding the go-cart (I now know why some people call Mimi "speeder")

Eating good food (Mimi fed me PB&J and lots of cookies :)

I even got to play with great grandpa Mormance,

and see my cousins,
And more cousins,
I love my cousins,

imitate famous movie stars,

It was so good to spend so much time with family, I had so much fun
(I love my family so much)

And I love my Mimi and Papa SO MUCH!!!
Thanks for taking good care of me.
